Paul Berret, Jean-Baptiste Berret and Otto Schmitz established Fabrique d'Ébauches Vénus in Moutier in 1924, taking over the former Victor Spozio factory. Vénus joined Ebauches SA in 1928 and developed chronograph movements including the 175 and 178. Its chronograph operations were consolidated with Valjoux in 1966, but this did not mean that the Moutier factory immediately closed. Contemporary newspaper reports reproduced by Grail Watch document its fiftieth anniversary in 1974 and a remaining component-making operation in 1982, with closure announced for March 1983. This manufacturer is distinct from the Venus name used for complete watches by Schwarz-Etienne and later watch-brand operators.
