ETA SA 178

The Venus caliber 178 is a 17-jewel manual-wind Swiss chronograph movement produced from the late 1950s through the 1960s. Based on the earlier caliber 175, it features a column wheel mechanism for controlling the chronograph start-stop function and includes Incabloc shock protection. The movement saw notable use in the Breitling Navitimer 806 AOPA, which helped establish its reputation among vintage chronograph enthusiasts. Multiple variations exist within the 178 family, differing in dial layout while sharing the same core construction.
