Van der Gang

Wybe van der Gang established the precision-engineering company Exakt Fijnmechanika in 1990, supplying small components to the aerospace and medical industries. He began designing watches in 2002, and the first Original reached the market in 2004 in a series of 250 pieces. In 2008, Van der Gang began establishing its own watchmaking production facilities for movement parts and complications. The Dokkum workshop makes cases using wire erosion and modifies externally sourced movements. A separate perpetual-calendar project has produced a working prototype; the official site still describes it as being tested rather than as a released production watch.
