Grönefeld
ActiveDutch independent watchmaker founded by brothers Bart and Tim Grönefeld, producing haute horlogerie timepieces with in-house calibers featuring dead seconds, tourbillons, and constant-force mechanisms. Third generation of a family watchmaking legacy dating to 1912.
Johan Grönefeld began his career as a watchmaker in 1912, establishing a workshop and boutique in Oldenzaal, Netherlands, near the Saint Plechelmus basilica. His son Sjef continued the family trade. Third-generation brothers Bart and Tim Grönefeld launched their own brand in 2008. Bart trained at WOSTEP in Neuchâtel and specializes in minute repeaters. Tim attended the Vakschool in Schoonhoven, Netherlands, and specializes in tourbillons and regulator escapements. Their first watch, the GTM-06 in 2008, housed both a minute repeater and tourbillon, the most complicated watch to come out of the Netherlands. The Grönefeld One Hertz in 2010 was the first watch series with dead seconds via an independent secondary gear train. The Parallax Tourbillon won the GPHG tourbillon category in 2014. The 1941 Remontoire Constant Force with an eight-seconds constant force mechanism won GPHG men's watch category in 2016. The 1941 Grönograaf won a GPHG award in 2022.
