Japanese manufacturer of quartz and mechanical watch movements, established as Seiko Group affiliate specializing in OEM modules, with movements manufactured by Seiko Instruments Inc.
Established in 1987 in Ginza, Tokyo with funding from Seiko Corporation, Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII), and Seiko Epson Corporation, focusing on designing and producing movements at affiliated factories for third-party OEM use. By December 2015, TMI became wholly owned by Seiko Holdings Group, with all movements manufactured by SII. In April 2020, its sales arm was renamed SEIKO Manufacturing (H.K.) Ltd. TMI produces quartz movements (prefixes: VK, VH, VD, VJ, VC, PC) and mechanical movements (NE, NH), often similar to those in Seiko-branded watches for efficiency in OEM production. The company supports the broader Seiko ecosystem, serving independent watchmakers and brands requiring reliable, cost-effective Swiss-alternative movements. TMI movements are manufactured by SII and retained the TMI brand for distribution and marketing purposes.
