The collective project is reported to have begun in 2005; the Swiss legal foundation was established in 2008. Its Naissance d'une Montre projects support traditional skills. Naissance d'une Montre 2 was built by Dominique Buser and Cyrano Devanthey with support from partner watchmakers. The foundation is a noncommercial institution; its partners and directors are not commercial owners.
