Sellita

Founded in 1950 by Pierre Grandjean in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Sellita initially operated as an établisseur (assembler) of watch movements. The company became a major outsourced assembler for ETA, and by the 1980s, Sellita was producing more ETA 2824 movements than ETA itself. When ETA announced supply restrictions in 2002, Grandjean sold to Miguel García, who transformed Sellita into a fully independent manufacturer. With guidance from Nicolas Hayek, García leveraged expired ETA patents to design compatible movements. Today, Sellita is 100% Swiss-owned and vertically integrated through subsidiaries: Gurofa (movement blanks, Germany), Technicor (electroplating, Switzerland), and Helios (bar-turning, Switzerland).
