Ludovic Ballouard

Ludovic Ballouard is a French-born independent watchmaker who established his eponymous brand in Geneva in December 2009. Before launching his own brand, Ballouard worked for seven years at F.P. Journe, where he was responsible for assembling the highly complicated Sonnerie Souveraine. His debut creation, the Upside Down watch, features a unique philosophical concept where only the current hour appears right-side up while all other numerals are inverted, symbolizing the importance of living in the present moment. Ballouard's watches are known for their intellectual depth, humor, and meticulous hand-finishing, with extremely limited production numbers typical of independent haute horlogerie. Each timepiece reflects his philosophy that mechanical watchmaking should provoke thought and emotion beyond timekeeping.
