Armin Strom
ActiveIndependent Swiss watchmaker with a fully integrated manufacture in Biel/Bienne, focused on transparent mechanics and in-house movement development with 97% vertical integration.
Armin Strom got its start in 1967 as a watch shop in Burgdorf, Switzerland, specializing in watch restorations and hand-skeletonizing. The company presented its first branded timepieces at the Basel Watch Fair in 1984. In 1990, founder Armin Strom earned a Guinness World Record for creating the world's smallest hand-skeletonized watch. Watch collector Serge Michel and watchmaker Claude Greisler took over the brand in 2006, and in 2009 they opened a fully integrated manufacture in Biel/Bienne. Their first in-house caliber, the ARM09 with an 8-day power reserve, was presented in 2009. The ATC11 tourbillon movement with a 10-day power reserve followed in 2012. The brand's biggest breakthrough came in 2016 with the Mirrored Force Resonance, where two separate oscillators are connected by a resonance clutch spring, achieving greater precision through resonance. The brand has achieved 97% vertical integration, with nearly all movement components made in-house.
