Ulysse Nardin's Freak X Aventurine, reference 2305-270LE-9A-AVE/1A, comes in a 43 mm titanium and 18 ct gold case. The case measures 13.38 mm thick and carries a sapphire crystal in place of a conventional dial. The self-winding UN-230 calibre drives the movement itself, which rotates as the display, with a flying carousel replacing hands and dial altogether. Power reserve runs to 72 hours, generous for a watch of this construction. This is a limited edition, one of only 99 pieces made. The case sits on a gummy-effect alligator leather strap. Water resistance reaches 50 metres, adequate for a piece built around mechanical display rather than daily immersion.
