Swiss tactical watch brand specializing in self-illuminating timepieces using proprietary trigalight H3 tritium technology. Known for military-specification watches originally developed for the US Army, traser produces robust professional instruments for tactical, outdoor, and diving applications.
traser was established in 1989 as a subsidiary of mb-microtec ag, a Swiss microtechnology company founded in 1969 by physicist Oskar Thüler. The brand was born from a US Army request to develop a functional watch according to MIL-W-46374F military specifications, resulting in the P6500 Type 6 – the world's first self-illuminated watch using tritium gas tubes. mb-microtec had pioneered self-luminous light source technology since 1969, with early applications including equipment for the Swiss assault rifle in 1971. The trigalight brand name was introduced in 2000 to market their proprietary illumination technology. In 2018, mb-microtec inaugurated a new CHF 23 million production facility in Niederwangen with advanced safety features. The company celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019, the same year mb-microtec marked 50 years of operation. traser continues to innovate, introducing bronze cases, solar-powered models, and in 2025, the P99 Iris with patented iris diaphragm technology.
