Alfred Rochat established his watchmaking workshop in 1941 and later acquired the Arola name; the acquisition date and original founding year of the brand are not disclosed. The present Swiss company was entered in the commercial register in 1992. The business modifies acquired movements, particularly ETA, Valjoux and Unitas bases, and also developed the AR 165, for which it makes a large proportion of components while using some Unitas 6497 supplies. It sells finished watches at retail and supplies other brands with movements and private-label watches. A 2021 interview describes the business as family-held and managed by Sandra Pilet Rochat and Marc-Aurèle Rochat.
