Bernhard Lederer is an independent German master watchmaker renowned for his groundbreaking Central Impulse Chronometer, which features a patented Dual Detent Escapement with dual remontoires. A member of the AHCI since 1985, Lederer has dedicated over 40 years to experimental watchmaking, combining rigorous mechanical analysis with innovations inspired by Abraham-Louis Breguet and George Daniels.
Born in 1958 in Kornwestheim, Germany, Bernhard Lederer began his career restoring pocket watches and clocks in museums across Germany. He became an independent watchmaker in 1986 and joined the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI) in 1985. After decades of working behind the scenes for others, Lederer launched his 'Masters of Escapement' series, with the Central Impulse Chronometer debuting in 2020 after six years of research and development. The watch won the GPHG Innovation Prize in 2021 and the GPHG Chronometry Prize in 2024 for the Triple Certified Observatory Chronometer. LEDERER became the first AHCI member welcomed into the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH).
