Omega's Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space, reference 310.32.40.50.06.001, is a chronograph with a 39.7 mm steel case. The case is 13.38 mm thick and measures 48 mm lug to lug. The movement is Omega calibre 3861, which is manual-winding, with a 50 hour power reserve. The calibre has a Co-Axial escapement, a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring, and Master Chronometer certification. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment inside covers the dial. The dial has small seconds and a tachymeter scale. Omega rates the case to 50 metres, which is 5 bar. A leather strap is fitted to the watch.
