28,800 vph (8 Hz)
The Panerai caliber P.980 is an automatic movement manufactured in Switzerland by ValFleurier, a Richemont-owned facility. It operates at 28,800 vph and features a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock alongside a date complication at 3 o'clock. The movement includes hacking seconds, which stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out for time-setting—a feature that distinguishes it from its predecessor, the P.900. Incabloc shock protection is fitted. The P.980 powers current Luminor Marina models and remains in production.
