Swedish watch brand whose name stands for 'Transforming the Industry of Watches.' Known for Scandinavian minimalist design and pioneering sustainability initiatives, TRIWA creates timepieces from innovative recycled materials including ocean-bound plastic and Humanium Metal made from melted illegal firearms.
TRIWA was founded in 2007 in Stockholm by four friends—Harald Wachtmeister (CEO), Ludvig Scheja (Creative Director), Didrik Wachtmeister, and Tobias Ericsson—with a rebellious mission to challenge the traditional watch industry's obsession with status. The brand initially created colorful plastic watches inspired by a concept they encountered in Italy: affordable alternatives to expensive luxury timepieces. This playful approach evolved into a cleaner Scandinavian design language that gained significant success in Asian markets, particularly Japan. The most significant transformation came with the brand's pivot toward sustainability, launching the Time for Peace collection featuring Humanium Metal watches made from confiscated illegal firearms melted down in collaboration with IM Sweden. Proceeds support programs for victims of armed violence. This was followed by the Time for Oceans collection using recycled ocean-bound plastic, partnering with organizations like Sea Shepherd. Having sold over 1.5 million watches, TRIWA continues to position itself at the intersection of design, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.
