German watch brand honoring aviation pioneer Hugo Junkers, known for affordable pilot-inspired timepieces featuring Bauhaus aesthetics and aviation instrument design. Originally produced under license by POINTtec, now manufactured by the Junkers family.
POINTtec Electronic GmbH obtained licensing rights to use the Junkers name in 1988 and began watch production in 1998. The brand paid tribute to Professor Hugo Junkers, the legendary German commercial aircraft and aircraft engine pioneer who was expelled from his business when the Nazis came to power. In 1996, POINTtec created 1,000 chronographs for the Bosch-Junkers centenary, which catalyzed the development of the Junkers watch line. The brand became known for its aviation-inspired designs and minimalist Bauhaus aesthetics. In 2018-2019, when POINTtec did not renew the license due to increased royalty fees, the descendants of the Junkers family established Junkers Uhren GmbH in Munich to produce watches under their own name. POINTtec replaced the Junkers brand with Iron Annie.
