Major Chinese manufacturer of mechanical watch movements and complete watches, producing in-house designs including the 2000 series and branded movements like Xihu (West Lake).
Established in Hangzhou in 1972 with export rights from inception, the factory began producing watches using Beijing-made SB5 movements under the Yingxiong brand before developing its own ZHZ Standard movement (initially 17 jewels, upgraded to 19). The factory shifted to the Xihu (West Lake) brand, named after a local landmark, which earned China's top national quality award. In the 1970s-1980s, Hangzhou introduced a women's small-caliber movement and an automatic men's version with a simple rotor module. Later innovations included the 2000 series (2xxx) automatics, inspired by but not interchangeable with Seiko 7009, with variants including skeleton, triple-date, dual-time, and jump-hour complications. The company also developed the 7500 movement for improved accuracy and reliability. Now state-owned and partnered with PTS Resources (Hong Kong) for new caliber designs, Hangzhou remains one of China's leading mechanical movement producers, serving international brands like Orion (Russia) and Stuhrling.
