Catena traces its origins to Willy Lebet's watch company, established in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1947. After moving to La Neuveville in the early 1950s, the business adopted the Catena name. Its official history includes mechanical movement assembly, the Spaceman watch and subsequent quartz watches. Catena introduced its own automatic movement in 2013. Stelux obtained control in April 2015. The 2026 Stelux annual report lists Catena SA as a Swiss watch-movement manufacturing subsidiary, with 88% equity held and a right to acquire the remaining 12%. The registered office moved to Geneva in 2025; the older website still lists Meyrin.
