Patek Philippe Rare Handcrafts 5177J-001 is a Calatrava case in yellow gold, measuring 38 mm across. The case is 8.3 mm thick and carries a sapphire crystal set into the case back rather than over the dial. Inside is the calibre 240 self-winding movement, an ultra-thin construction with an off-centre minirotor and a power reserve of 48 hours. The gold dial is hand-engraved with a guilloché pattern depicting the embroidery of a matador's suit of lights, worked in relief to a silky, textured finish. Through the sapphire back the movement's finishing and rotor are visible. A calf leather strap closes with a pin buckle in yellow gold. The case holds up to 30 metres of water resistance.
