America's premier watchmaker and the only vertically integrated watch manufacture in the United States. RGM designs and produces unique in-house movements, dials, cases, and hands domestically, combining modern precision manufacturing with traditional craftsmanship techniques including guilloché (engine-turning) and glass enamel work.
RGM Watch Company was founded in 1992 by master watchmaker Roland G. Murphy in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. Murphy's horological journey began in high school working in the cabinet-making section of a clock company. He studied at Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, then traveled to Switzerland in 1986 to train at WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program). After graduation, he worked in product development at Hamilton Watch Company, eventually becoming Technical Manager. In 1992, Murphy struck out on his own to revive American watchmaking tradition. In 2007, RGM introduced the Caliber 801, the first American-designed and manufactured watch movement in decades. This was followed by the Pennsylvania Tourbillon and the tonneau-shaped Caliber 20, establishing RGM as a true American manufacture. The company celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022 and continues to produce high-grade mechanical timepieces that honor Pennsylvania's rich watchmaking heritage while employing antique, hand-operated machinery alongside modern technology.
