Jacob Arabo founded Jacob & Co. in New York in 1986 as a jewellery business. Watches became part of its offering in the early 2000s, beginning with the quartz Five Time Zone; official accounts disagree on whether its launch was in 2001 or 2002. The watchmaking business later developed mechanically complex collections including Quenttin, Astronomia and Opera Godfather. The company describes itself as family-owned and New York-based, while its Swiss watchmaking entity is registered in Plan-les-Ouates. Specialist reporting documents in-house watch assembly and final quality control, together with movement development and manufacture by partners including Concepto, Les Ateliers 7h38 and Le Cercle des Horlogers.
