AERA's official site describes the company as an independent British watchmaker focused on contemporary design, precision engineering and craft, and says it was founded in 2018. Official engineering pages state that AERA was founded by a small group of watch enthusiasts who wanted to modernise classic tool watches, using 904L steel, Sellita movements, special one-piece dials and Swiss Made production. AERA's press page identifies Jas Minhas as co-founder and CEO, while Watchonista identifies Jas Minhas and Olof Larsson as co-founders and says the concept began in early 2018 in Geneva before launching physical P-1 and D-1 models after years of development. Because the brand is British-designed and Swiss Made but no owned manufacture is supported, manufacturing is classified as design_only.
