Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Ruby "50th Anniversary"

Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Selfwinding "50th Anniversary", reference 15554BC.RR.1274BC.01, has a 37 mm white gold case. Case thickness measures 9.8 mm and the dial sits under a sapphire crystal. The red dial is fitted to a self-winding calibre 5909, which drives hours, minutes and a central seconds hand. The watch is set with diamonds, in this instance baguette-cut rubies rather than the usual stones, part of a run of ten pieces each finished in a different gemstone. The white gold bracelet closes with an AP folding clasp. Central seconds keeps the display simple on a piece built around its stone-setting. Water resistance is rated to 20 metres, enough for everyday wear but not for swimming.
