The Miyota 8203 is an automatic movement manufactured in Japan, first introduced in 1977. It operates at 21 jewels with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours and features hand winding and quickset date functionality. The movement includes day and date complications with Parashock shock protection. Early versions did not include hacking seconds, though later production runs added this feature. The 8203 has been discontinued, succeeded by the 8205 caliber.
