Wakmann Watch Company was founded in 1946 in New York by Ikehataro Wakmann. The brand is notable for its 1947 joint venture with Swiss manufacturer Breitling, forming the Breitling Watch Corporation of America. Wakmann imported unassembled Swiss watch parts (primarily from Breitling) and assembled them in the US, circumventing import duties. The company supplied cockpit clocks to the US military and civilian aviation markets. Wakmann is now defunct but their vintage timepieces remain popular among collectors.
