DKNY (Donna Karan New York) was founded in 1989 by fashion designer Donna Karan as a younger, more affordable diffusion line to run alongside her existing Donna Karan New York label. The brand was inspired by her daughter Gaby and quickly became known for its urban, contemporary designs reflecting the energy and attitude of New York City. DKNY expanded into watches and accessories through licensing partnerships. The company became publicly traded in 1996 and was purchased by LVMH in 2001. In 2016, LVMH sold DKNY to G-III Apparel Group for $650 million. DKNY watches are produced under license and embody the brand's urban aesthetic.
