Sonata is an Indian watch brand owned by Titan Company, one of the world's largest watch manufacturers. Positioned as an affordable, value-for-money brand, Sonata offers reliable quartz watches targeting the mass market segment in India. The brand has become one of India's best-selling watch brands with annual sales exceeding 4 million units.
Sonata was launched by Titan Company in 1997 following the dissolution of Titan's joint venture partnership with Timex. The brand was created to compete in the economy watch segment that Timex had previously dominated. Positioned as an affordable alternative offering quality at accessible prices, Sonata quickly gained market share among value-conscious Indian consumers. By 2014, Sonata was selling 4.6 million watches annually, making it one of India's most popular watch brands. In 2015, Titan launched Super Fibre (SF), a sub-brand under Sonata featuring durable fibre-body watches.
