Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Selfwinding, reference 15451ST.ZZ.1256ST.02, has a 37 mm steel case measuring 9.8 mm thick. The watch is set with diamonds, forty brilliant-cut stones in all, and the grey "Grande Tapisserie" dial sits beneath a sapphire crystal. The self-winding calibre 3120 drives the hours, minutes, centre seconds and date. Central seconds and the date window are the main practical complications on offer, both easy to read against the textured dial. A steel bracelet completes the watch, closing with an AP folding clasp. Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which is plenty for a watch built for everyday wear rather than diving. The proportions suit a smaller wrist without feeling slight.
