ETA Unitas 6497 and 6498 are manual-winding movements manufactured by ETA SA and introduced in 1950. They remain in production and feature Incabloc shock protection. The sole distinction between them lies in the small seconds subdial position: the 6497 orients the seconds at 9:00 for Lépine (open face) pocket watch configuration with crown up, while the 6498 places it at 6:00 for hunter style (Savonette) configuration with crown to the right. This difference reflects their original pocket watch applications and allows dial designers to choose between the two positions when adapting the movements for wristwatch use.
