Ressence
ActiveBelgian watch manufacturer founded in 2010, known for revolutionary oil-filled disc displays and patented ROCS system.
Ressence was founded in 2010 by Belgian industrial designer Benoît Mintiens in Antwerp. The brand name combines 'Renaissance' and 'essence.' Ressence revolutionized watch displays by replacing traditional hands with rotating discs on a single co-planar surface using the patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System). The Type 3 and Type 5 models feature oil-filled upper chambers that eliminate refraction, making dial elements appear to float. Ressence has been certified by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie for meeting Haute Horlogerie standards. The brand won the Horological Revelation Prize at the 2013 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. Manufacturing occurs in both Belgium (design and assembly) and Switzerland (movement base).
