Ressence is a Belgian watch manufacturer founded in 2010 by industrial designer Benoît Mintiens in Antwerp. The brand name is a portmanteau of 'Renaissance' and 'essence.' Ressence is known for its revolutionary time display system that replaces traditional hands with rotating discs on a single co-planar surface. The Type 3 and Type 5 models feature unique oil-filled upper chambers that eliminate refraction and allow the dial elements to appear to float. Ressence has been certified by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie for meeting Haute Horlogerie standards. The brand won the Horological Revelation Prize at the 2013 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
