Michael Kors is an American luxury fashion brand offering fashion-forward watches as part of its accessories line. The watches are produced under a licensing agreement with Fossil Group, which has manufactured Michael Kors timepieces since 2004. The collection includes both analog quartz watches and smartwatches, featuring signature design elements like rose gold tones, pavé-accented designs, and stainless steel bracelets.
The Michael Kors brand was founded in 1981 when designer Michael Kors launched his women's label at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. After a 1993 Chapter 11 filing due to licensing partner closure, the brand relaunched in 1997. In 2003, Lawrence Stroll and Silas Chou invested $100 million, and John D. Idol became CEO. The company went public on the NYSE in 2011. The watch division began in 2004 when Michael Kors partnered with Fossil Group to design, develop, and distribute watches. Jewelry was added to the Fossil license in 2010. The licensing agreement has been renewed multiple times, most recently extended through 2027. In 2019, the parent company was renamed from Michael Kors Holdings Limited to Capri Holdings after acquiring Jimmy Choo (2017) and Versace (2018).
