Laurent Ferrier is an independent Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture creating classically designed luxury timepieces with exceptional hand-finishing. Founded by former Patek Philippe technical director Laurent Ferrier and racing partner François Servanin, the brand produces approximately 300 watches annually, distinguished by pure aesthetics inspired by 19th and 20th century watchmaking traditions combined with technically innovative movements.
Laurent Ferrier was born into a watchmaking family in Geneva on December 19, 1946, with both his father and grandfather being watchmakers. After graduating from the prestigious École d'Horlogerie de Genève in 1968, he joined Patek Philippe where he would spend 37 years, eventually becoming head of product development. During his time at Patek, he worked on the prototype of the Gérald Genta-designed Nautilus. Simultaneously, Ferrier pursued a successful semi-professional racing career, competing seven times at Le Mans and finishing 3rd overall in 1979 alongside François Servanin and François Trisconi in a Porsche 935. It was through racing that Ferrier befriended industrialist François Servanin, and the pair dreamed for decades of creating their own watch brand. In 2009, at age 63, Ferrier left Patek Philippe (forfeiting retirement benefits just three years shy of his 40th anniversary) while Servanin sold his defense vehicle company Panhard. Together with Laurent's son Christian Ferrier handling movement development, they launched Laurent Ferrier in 2010 with the Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Spiral, which immediately won Best Men's Watch at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
