Texas-born watch brand offering American-inspired timepieces with a focus on accessible luxury. Known for tool watches including aviation, diver, and field watch styles, Jack Mason combines Texan heritage with quality craftsmanship. The brand transitioned from fashion watches to enthusiast-focused watchmaking in 2020, emphasizing American assembly, movement regulation, and refined design.
Jack Mason was founded in January 2015 by Peter Cho and Craig Carter during the height of the fashion watch trend. Peter Cho, a watch designer by trade with experience at Fossil and Movado, sought to create an authentic American watch brand. The company name came from a relative whose name had a natural American feel, and the logo is based on the Texas Lone Star. Initially available in department stores nationwide, Jack Mason toured the country in a vintage 1971 Airstream as a mobile showroom. By 2018, the brand had expanded to hundreds of department store locations. In 2020, responding to shifts in the fashion watch industry and a desire to regain brand control, Jack Mason exited all retail and pivoted to direct-to-consumer sales through their website. The 2022 launch of the Strat-o-timer GMT marked their transition to enthusiast-focused watchmaking, featuring the Miyota 9075 movement. This was followed by the Hydrotimer dive watch in 2023 and the Ellum Manual Wind. In 2024, Jack Mason released the Canton, their first Swiss Made watch featuring the La Joux-Perret G100 caliber.
