Piaget
ActiveSwiss luxury watchmaker and jeweller founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in La Côte-aux-Fées, known for ultra-thin calibres and jewelry watches. A subsidiary of the Richemont Group.
Georges-Édouard Piaget established his first workshop in 1874 on the family farm in La Côte-aux-Fées, a village in the Swiss Jura mountains. The company initially produced pocket watch movements for other brands. In 1911, Timothée Piaget, Georges' son, took over and shifted focus to wristwatches. The Piaget brand was registered as a trademark in 1943 under grandsons Gérald and Valentin Piaget. In 1957, Piaget introduced the Calibre 9P, a hand-wound movement measuring 2mm thick. In 1960, the automatic Calibre 12P followed at 2.3mm. A jewelry manufacture opened in Geneva in 1959. The Polo watch launched in 1979. The Vendôme Group (now Richemont) acquired Piaget in 1988. A new haute horlogerie manufacture opened in Plan-les-Ouates in 2001. The Altiplano 900P, the thinnest mechanical hand-wound watch at 3.65mm, was introduced in 2014.
