Piaget

In 1874, at age 19, Georges Edouard Piaget established his first workshop on the family farm in La Côte-aux-Fées, a small village in the Swiss Jura mountains. Initially focused on crafting high-precision pocket watch movements for other brands, the company operated anonymously for decades. In 1911, Timothée Piaget, Georges' son, took over and shifted focus to wristwatches. The brand was registered as a trademark in 1943 under the grandsons Gérald and Valentin Piaget. In 1957, Piaget revolutionized watchmaking with the Calibre 9P, an ultra-thin 2mm hand-wound movement—the thinnest in the world. In 1960, the automatic Calibre 12P (2.3mm) followed as the world's thinnest self-winding movement. A jewelry manufacture opened in Geneva in 1959. The iconic Polo watch launched in 1979 became a symbol of 1980s luxury. In 1988, the Vendôme Group (now Richemont) acquired Piaget. In 2001, a new haute horlogerie manufacture opened in Plan-les-Ouates near Geneva. The 2002 Calibre 600P set the record for thinnest tourbillon at 3.5mm. In 2014, the Altiplano 900P became the world's thinnest mechanical hand-wound watch at just 3.65mm. Piaget celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024.
