Valjoux
ActiveSwiss manufacturer of mechanical watch movements, known for the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement.
Valjoux (named for Vallée de Joux, 'Joux Valley') is a Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watch movements based in Les Bioux, Switzerland. The company traces its roots to 1856 and was formally established as Valjoux in 1901. The company specialized in chronograph ébauche movements and became known for the Valjoux 72, a manual-wind chronograph used in many watches. Valjoux was acquired by ETA in 1983 and is now part of the Swatch Group. The Valjoux 7750, introduced in 1974, became one of the most widely used automatic chronograph movements in the world. It uses a three-plane cam system rather than a column wheel and was the first watch movement developed using computer-assisted design. Today, Valjoux continues to produce movements under ETA ownership.
