Parmigiani Fleurier is a Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture founded by master watchmaker and restorer Michel Parmigiani. Distinguished by its complete vertical integration and exceptional finishing, the brand produces sophisticated timepieces that blend restoration expertise with innovative complications. Known for designs inspired by architecture, nature, and the golden ratio, Parmigiani Fleurier represents the pinnacle of independent Swiss watchmaking.
Michel Parmigiani began his career in 1976 when he opened 'Mesure et Art du Temps,' a workshop dedicated to restoring antique timepieces. His exceptional skill attracted prestigious clients, including the Patek Philippe Museum and the Sandoz Family Foundation. The relationship with the Sandoz family proved transformative—after restoring their horological collection at the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle, the Foundation encouraged and supported Michel in creating his own brand. Parmigiani Fleurier was officially inaugurated on May 29, 1996, at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, launching with 52 references. The brand immediately distinguished itself with the Toric QP Retrograde, establishing aesthetic signatures like alternating gadroons and detailed knurling. From 1999 onwards, the company pursued complete vertical integration, acquiring Les Artisans Boîtiers (cases), Atokalpa (gear trains), and Elwin (precision components), while creating Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier for movements and Quadrance et Habillage for dials. The 2004 Bugatti partnership showcased the brand's innovative spirit with the revolutionary Bugatti Type 370. The brand has continued to innovate, introducing groundbreaking calibers and winning the Innovation Prize at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix in 2020.
