Guinand
ActiveSwiss watchmaker founded in 1865, relocated to Germany in 2000, specializing in pilot and military chronographs.
Guinand Frères was founded on April 21, 1865, by brothers Julien-Alcide and Charles Leon Guinand in Les Brenets, Switzerland. The company pioneered chronographs in 1881 and supplied specialized watches to the French and Italian air forces and British Admiralty. After remaining family-owned for over a century, Helmut Sinn (founder of Sinn Spezialuhren) acquired Guinand in 1995-1996 after selling his original brand. He founded Jubilar Uhren Inh. Helmut Sinn in Frankfurt in 1996 and relocated Guinand production from Switzerland to Germany in 2000, renaming the company Guinand Watches Helmut Sinn GmbH. The headquarters moved to the Rödelheim district of Frankfurt am Main, where it continues today as one of Europe's oldest continuously operating watchmakers, emphasizing mechanical watches for pilots and professionals with direct sales following Helmut Sinn's philosophy: "As perfect as possible, but only as expensive as necessary."
