Edox (Montres Edox et Vista SA) is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded in 1884 by Christian Ruefli-Flury in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. The name 'Edox' comes from ancient Greek meaning 'measure of time'. The company has remained in continuous production since its foundation. Notable innovations include the Delfin line with double casebacks for shock protection (1961), the Hydrosub with crown tension ring for 500m waterproofing (1963), and the Geoscope covering all time zones (1970). The Les Bémonts Ultra Slim (1998) still holds the record for slimmest calendar watch at 1.4mm movement thickness. Edox is the official timekeeper of the World Rally Championship and sponsors the Dakar Rally. The company produces 70,000-90,000 watches annually and has remained family-owned since regaining independence in 1983.
