French luxury fashion house that entered haute horlogerie in 2002 with the iconic Tambour collection. Through its La Fabrique du Temps manufacture in Geneva, Louis Vuitton creates sophisticated timepieces combining fashion heritage with Swiss watchmaking excellence, featuring in-house developed complications and artistic dial craftsmanship.
Louis Vuitton was founded in 1854 in Paris by Louis Vuitton as a trunk-making workshop, quickly becoming synonymous with luxury travel goods. The maison entered watchmaking in 2002 with the launch of the Tambour, a distinctive drum-shaped timepiece that became the cornerstone of its horological identity. In 2011, Louis Vuitton acquired La Fabrique du Temps, an independent manufacture founded in 2007 by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini in Meyrin, Geneva. This acquisition transformed Louis Vuitton into a true watchmaking maison capable of developing proprietary movements and complex complications. The Escale collection showcased artistic dial techniques, while the Tambour evolved to incorporate increasingly sophisticated in-house calibers. Today, La Fabrique du Temps houses designers, engineers, and craftsmen creating some of the world's most complicated mechanical timepieces under the Louis Vuitton banner.
