Lemania
DefunctHistoric Swiss movement manufacturer known for chronograph calibers used in Omega Speedmaster and high-end watches, now integrated into Breguet.
Lemania was founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin in L'Orient, Switzerland. Originally named Lugrin SA, it became Lemania Watch Co. in 1930. The company specialized in producing high-quality chronograph movements and became known for supplying movements to major watch brands. Lemania merged into SSIH (Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère) in 1932, which included Omega and Tissot. The company produced movements for Omega, including calibers used in the famous Speedmaster Moonwatch. During the quartz crisis, Lemania was privatized in 1981 as Nouvelle Lemania through a management buyout from SSIH. In 1992, the company was revived by new investors and later acquired by Breguet. In 1999, when the Swatch Group acquired Breguet, Lemania became part of the group. By 2005, Lemania was fully integrated into the Breguet manufacture, with Lemania calibers continuing to be used in Breguet and other high-end watches.
