Swiss luxury watch brand with origins dating to 1758 when Jacques Gevril was named Royal Watchmaker to King Ferdinand VI of Spain. Revived in 2001, Gevril produces approximately 6,000 Swiss-made mechanical timepieces annually, blending 18th-century horological heritage with contemporary design.
Jacques Gevril was an up-and-coming Swiss watchmaker in 1758 when he accompanied Pierre Jaquet-Droz to Madrid to present intricate musical automata to King Ferdinand VI. The monarch was so impressed he acquired every piece on display. While Jaquet-Droz returned to Switzerland, Gevril remained in Spain and earned the title of Royal Watchmaker. Subsequent generations—including Moyse Gevril and Daniel Gevril—continued the craft, developing new mechanisms and enameling techniques. In 1810, a watch signed 'Gevril à Genève' was created, now displayed at the Musée de l'Horlogerie in Geneva. The brand was revived in the 1990s and relaunched at the 1995 Basel Fair. In 2001, a Swiss family with a passion for horology acquired Gevril, maintaining Swiss production while relocating headquarters to New York.
