Slava

The Slava brand traces its origins to November 29, 1924, when the Moscow Electromechanical Factory (MEMZ) was established within the Military-Technical Administration of the Red Army. Initially focused on telegraph equipment and radio stations, the factory's destiny changed in autumn 1927 when it was transferred to the Precision Mechanics Trust and began assembling alarm clocks. On April 25, 1930, MEMZ was officially renamed the Second State Watch Factory. During World War II, the factory was evacuated to Chistopol in 1941, where it produced military equipment. The Chistopol operation later became the Vostok watch factory. The Moscow facility returned to civilian production after the war, initially assembling Zvezda and Pobeda watches from parts supplied by other factories. In 1958, it was renamed the Second Moscow Watch Factory, and in 1964, it was rebranded as 'Slava.' The breakthrough came in 1966 when Slava designed its distinctive caliber 24xx mechanical movements featuring a dual mainspring barrel system. The factory achieved remarkable export success, shipping up to 50% of production to 72 countries by 1979, including partnerships with Italian distributors. In January 2006, the factory and its site were sold for retail development and demolished by 2010. The Moscow municipality acquired the brand in a debt swap, and in 2019, new owners purchased it and began active development, releasing premium models, reissues of classic designs, and collaborations with Soyuzmultfilm, Kalashnikov, and other brands.
