Orient Star is the premium line of Orient Watch Company, founded in 1951 in Japan. The brand traces its origins to 1901 when Shogoro Yoshida opened a shop selling imported pocket watches in Tokyo's Ueno district. The company was incorporated as Tama Keiki Co. in 1950, renamed Orient Watch Company in 1951, and the first Orient Star was released the same year. Orient Star represents the higher-end offering from Orient, featuring more sophisticated designs, better finishing, and enhanced complications compared to the standard Orient line. The brand is renowned for manufacturing its own in-house automatic movements, including features like power reserve indicators, semi-skeleton designs, and moon phase complications. In 2009, Orient became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seiko Epson Corporation. Orient Star watches offer exceptional value, combining Japanese craftsmanship with classic aesthetics at accessible price points.
