Chaumet is a French luxury jewelry and watch house founded in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot. As the first jeweler to establish on Place Vendôme in 1812, the Maison became the official jeweler to Napoleon I and has served royalty and aristocracy for over 240 years. Known for exceptional craftsmanship in jewelry watches and iconic tiaras, Chaumet combines traditional French savoir-faire with elegant, modern design.
Marie-Étienne Nitot founded the house in 1780 after serving his apprenticeship with Aubert, jeweler to Queen Marie-Antoinette. Nitot became Napoleon I's official jeweler in 1804, creating ceremonial pieces including Napoleon's coronation sword with the Regent Diamond. The house passed through the Fossin (1815) and Morel periods before Joseph Chaumet took control in 1885, establishing the current name. In 1907, operations moved to 12 Place Vendôme, where they remain today. After a bankruptcy scandal in 1987, Investcorp acquired the house, restoring its prestige. LVMH purchased Chaumet in 1999, integrating it into their Watches & Jewelry division alongside TAG Heuer, Zenith, and Hublot.
