The Venus Cal. 188 is a revolutionary cam-switching chronograph that became the foundation for the modern Valjoux 7750. Introduced in 1948, it was much cheaper to produce than column wheel movements while remaining full-featured. A 14 ligne manual-wind chronograph with small seconds at 9:00 and 30/45-minute counter at 3:00. After Venus was acquired by Valjoux in 1966, the design was refined as Valjoux 7730, then 7733, and finally evolved into the automatic Valjoux 7750—one of the most popular chronograph movements ever made.
