Launched in 1960, the Caliber 12P became the world's thinnest automatic movement at just 2.3mm thick. It uses an off-centered 24-karat gold micro-rotor that extends past the periphery of the base plate, requiring a carved recess in each watch case. With 236 components, this groundbreaking movement established the template for Piaget's ultra-thin automatic movements, inspiring the modern 1200P family. The base plate features circular graining while bridges display vertical côtes de Genève with hand-chamfered edges.
