Successor to the caliber 321, the 861 powered second-generation Speedmaster Moonwatch models from 1968. Based on Lemania 1873, it replaced the column wheel with a more economical cam-actuated chronograph mechanism. Originally 17 jewels until 1992, then upgraded to 18 jewels. Replaced by the 1861 with improved finishing in 1996.
