The JCFM02 is the first-generation Opera caliber, featuring Jacob & Co.'s groundbreaking combination of a triple-axis flying tourbillon and musical complication. With 664 components including a variable inertia balance oscillating at 3Hz, the movement delivers 72 hours of power reserve. The triple-axis tourbillon cage weighs just 1.79 grams with 97 components, rotating at 40 seconds, 3 minutes, and 8 minutes on its three axes. The double-comb music box mechanism features 2 cylinders with hand-set pins sweeping across 30 blades (2×15). The entire mechanical module rotates 120° when the melody is activated. This caliber was succeeded by the JCFM04.
