The F.P. Journe Caliber 1510 represents the culmination of François-Paul Journe's chronometric research, powering the Chronomètre Optimum. Designed in 2001 but released in 2012, this movement embodies four key innovations: (1) EBHP High-Performance Bi-axial Escapement - a patented dual-wheel direct impulse escapement with titanium arbor and wheels that functions entirely without lubrication and is the only direct escapement that starts automatically; (2) Double mainspring barrels in parallel for stable torque delivery and reduced lateral pressure; (3) Constant-force remontoire made in titanium, delivering constant amplitude for the first 45-50 hours; (4) Natural dead-beat second visible on the caseback (rotating counter-clockwise). The movement comprises 240 components and achieves 70 hours total power reserve with optimal chronometric precision for the first 45 hours. The free-sprung balance with Phillips curve spiral and inertia weights is adjusted in six positions. Base plates and bridges in 18K rose gold with Geneva stripes, circular graining, and polished bevelled edges.
